Reviews Summary

Kulturforum is celebrated for its world-class art collections, particularly the Old Masters at the Gemäldegalerie and the modern art at the Neue Nationalgalerie. Visitors appreciate the architectural significance of the buildings and the ease of exploring multiple institutions on foot. Some find the sheer volume of art overwhelming and suggest planning visits carefully.

"Location is a bit far, walking from Potsdamer platz. The exhibition is good, 100 posters selection, free entry.

I think there is another side with paid exhibition."

Dorothy Lei

"I thought this place would be small and so I only allocated a small portion of time. I arrive about an hour before they closed and immediately regretted it. I was only able to hurriedly tour the painting portion, but what I did see, was incredible. If you want to thoroughly appreciate their extensive collection, I would reccomend 3 hours and it would be time well spent. Amazing place."

Kevin Whitesides (Kevin)

"I went there for Summer Cinema, the weather was great, the movie interesting, one of the Summer-in- the-city experiences I can recommend 👍🏻 😀"

The Architectural Marvel: Neue Nationalgalerie

The Neue Nationalgalerie, designed by the legendary Mies van der Rohe, is an architectural icon in itself. Its vast, open-plan exhibition space under a massive steel roof is a testament to modernist design. The building is as much a work of art as the collections it houses, which focus on 20th-century art, including Cubism, Expressionism, and Surrealism. Instagram

Visiting the Neue Nationalgalerie offers a unique experience where the architecture and the art engage in a dialogue. The minimalist design ensures that the focus remains on the artworks, while the building's transparency and connection to the surrounding urban landscape provide a distinct atmosphere. It's a space that encourages contemplation and appreciation of modern artistic movements. Instagram

This institution offers a more intimate and detailed look at artistic creation, showcasing preparatory sketches, studies, and finished prints by renowned artists. Instagram

Visitors can explore works by masters like Albrecht Dürer, whose intricate engravings are a highlight, alongside pieces by Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Rembrandt. The collection provides a fascinating insight into the artistic process, revealing the evolution of ideas and techniques. Exhibitions here often focus on specific artists, periods, or themes, offering a curated experience. Instagram
