What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Jagdschloss Grunewald for its beautiful exterior, picturesque lakeside setting, and the unique atmosphere of its Christmas market. The surrounding forest offers a peaceful escape. However, some find the interior exhibition small and note potential issues with tour language and ticketing clarity.
"The Jagdschloss Hunting Lodge only offered a small exhibit, and visitors needed to join a guided tour (of course, in German).
We waited for half an hour for the tour at 12 pm. Only five visitors joined this tour. When we were gathering, a staff member came to check our tickets and said we only had one ticket. Then we showed him our ticket, and he left. After we entered the lodge, the guide scanned everyone's ticket and said we only had one ticket. We showed her our two tickets, our receipt, and our annual pass cards, but she still emphasized that we only had one ticket and needed to buy another one.
Then, we started the tour. The tour lasted for one hour and was very informative, considering we only visited around six small rooms. During the tour, our 2.5-year-old didn’t like it and talked occasionally, and my wife tried her best to keep our daughter calm. However, the guide warned my wife in an unfriendly way. When the tour finished, we went to the ticket office to correct the mistake, and it turned out that we did nothing wrong. The guide didn't understand the system very well. At least, she smiled this time."

"A small construction going on, no Christmas market anymore (on the last Saturday before Christmas!). The "palace" is small and not remarkable at all. The way to the lake with the best view (right behind the buildings) was also closed.
Also, the paths around haven't been maintained for centuries it seems, and get horrendously dirty in winter."

"Beautiful on the outside, nice expo on the inside. The cafe is also very cute on a sunny day and just great after a long walk around the lake."
