What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
7 Paintings Berlin offers a unique immersive dining experience blending fine art projections with a multi-course meal. While many praise the captivating atmosphere and artistic concept as perfect for special occasions, some guests find the high price point isn't fully justified by inconsistent food quality and service. The interactive elements are a highlight for some, though others desire more polished execution and clearer English explanations for international visitors.
"The food was tasty and the concept is unique — pricey, but a great mix of art and fine dining, perfect for a special night out in the city.
Still, a few things could be improved: more content in English would help international visitors, and it was disappointing that all seven featured artists were men. The experience would feel more balanced if it included at least one woman — like Frida Kahlo, Georgia O’Keeffe, Artemisia Gentileschi, or Yayoi Kusama. After all, art has been shaped by many voices, and women have always been part of that — as creators, not just muses."

"Last week, my partner and I attended the "7 Paintings" dinner at the Hotel Schweizer Hof in Berlin – and it was simply wonderful.
This event is so much more than just a dinner. It's a perfect blend of art, fine dining, and entertainment.
The atmosphere was unique: a dark, stylish ambiance with captivating projections of artworks that changed with each course. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making the evening a truly memorable experience.
The menu consists of seven courses, each dedicated to a famous artist, from Michelangelo to van Gogh. We were particularly impressed by the veal carpaccio with truffle mayonnaise, which was not only a visual masterpiece but also a culinary delight of the highest order.
The other courses, from the grilled beef fillet to the creative desserts, were also outstanding and presented in a truly individual way.
The interactive show was especially captivating: light projections and small activities at the table completely immersed us in the experience. You feel like you're right in the middle of an art and culinary performance.
We highly recommend the 7 Paintings Dinner to anyone looking for something extraordinary – a feast for all the senses in a wonderful combination of culture and cuisine. For us, it was an evening full of surprises, taste sensations, and inspiration. Absolutely recommended!"

"I just checked the website again to make sure I wasn't saying anything wrong.
I find the concept itself exciting and quite surprising in many ways. Even the "participatory" aspect – although I'm not usually into that sort of thing. But… In a restaurant where each person pays €139, I expect trained staff who don't point to my table, who serve and clear the food from the right instead of passing it across the table, and who ask if we enjoyed the meal afterward. Some of our group didn't receive any explanations during the aperitif. It was still acceptable, but the meal itself left much to be desired. The first three courses of the seven-course menu were good, but not outstanding.
- Tomatoes on crostini: Good, but so few that they couldn't develop any flavor.
- Veal carpaccio on garlic bread - not even Meghle puts that much garlic on his garlic baguette.
- Sea bream with celery salad => that was good, it's going on my own menu.
Act 4 - Vegetable painting = no, seriously, the mixed greens weren't really fresh, the carrots and celery were either completely absent or barely there.
For the main course: the grilled beef fillet was indeed tender, but with beef, I expect a delicate pink color in warm meat. It was neither. Served with sweet potato mash, no, I'd rather go back to Blockhouse in the future.
Acts 6 and 7 won't get a rating from me, as I eat sugar-free. But feedback from my companion - "the lemon cake was bone dry, and a proper crema catalana tastes different" - says it all.
In addition, you sit at two separate tables in a larger group, which is generally detrimental to conversation.
I always find it difficult to give such a negative review, but if no one else does, nothing will change. Perhaps someone from the organizer could take the time to read this and then attend such an event themselves. Oh, and I spoke briefly with another guest afterward, and he was also disappointed."

The Immersive Art Experience
Beyond the visual spectacle, the experience aims to be interactive. While some guests find this aspect engaging and fun, others feel it could be more polished. The goal is to make diners feel like they are part of the art, not just passive observers. This can involve subtle activities or simply the way the projections are designed to draw you in. The overall ambiance is carefully curated to enhance this feeling of immersion, making it a departure from a typical restaurant setting.
Culinary Creations and Criticisms
However, the food quality has also drawn criticism. Some reviews mention that certain courses were mediocre, not fresh, or served cold, which is a significant concern given the premium price point. There have also been comments about the freshness of ingredients and the execution of desserts. While the concept is exciting, the execution of the culinary aspect appears to be a point of contention for some diners, leading to mixed reviews regarding the overall value for money.
Guest Feedback and Value
On the other hand, several guests have expressed disappointment, particularly regarding the value for money given the high price. Criticisms include inconsistent food quality, service issues, and technical glitches with the projections. Some reviewers also noted a lack of English content, which can be a barrier for international visitors. There's also a recurring theme of critical reviews being deleted, which raises concerns about transparency. Ultimately, whether 7 Paintings is worth the cost depends on individual expectations and priorities for an immersive dining experience.
