What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Mahrs Bräu is highly praised for its authentic atmosphere, excellent traditional food, and especially its unique 'U' Kellerbier. Visitors love the historic vibe and the spacious beer garden, though some note its location requires a dedicated trip from the city center.
"I came here twice during a trip to Bamberg and I ate on both occasions. The food and the beer were excellent and so I can highly recommend Mahr's Brau."

"A bit of a drive from the Altstadt and only walkable for the most dedicated. Plenty of parking, though be careful because I got a parking ticket just as I was leaving! In a quiet part of Bamberg next to a nice old church. Since it's outside of the old city, it's a larger facility, with a proper biergarten and a large indoor seating area with some nice bathrooms. Busy bar window with some of their best offerings on draft. Friendly, young folks working the garden. Food was traditional and the sausages with sauerkraut and mustard were delicious."
Matthew Garcia
"Mahr's Bräu felt like having a beer in the 1800s. Very authentic feeling, staff was very friendly and polite, food was good and the beer was great.
The best thing about the place is it's authenticity and vibe. Be prepared to share the tables with friendly germans. If you go during the winter months you might see as we did the stove beein lit with wood. Getting the "U" is a must"
