"A funny day out at the horse excellent location"
Stephen Williams
"We had never been to horse races, but since we were staying nearby gave it a go. For €5 entry fee and €3 parking, no reason not to. Didn't expect it, but we've been there almost the entire day!
It's very accessible, friendly staff and with a race every half an hour or so, there's enough to keep you entertained.
The restaurants were a bit too fancy to our liking, but you can go in and out as you please as long as you get a stamp on your arm. There's a great bakery a short walk to the north ;)"
Egbert Venema
"Don't understand the comments on good food. Food was way over priced and I even would believe the pizza were deep frozen ones. Salad was more than basic for a peppery price. In case you can, have lunch at Deauville beach instead. The whole horse race experience nevertheless is of course great value for the price you pay."

For newcomers, the race card provides essential information about the runners, and a helpful leaflet often explains how to place a bet. While the betting tellers may not speak English, the process is generally straightforward once you understand the basics. Winning a bet adds an extra layer of excitement to the day, as one visitor happily reported being €40 up!
Remember that the entire experience is designed to be immersive. From the pre-race preparations to the thunder of hooves on the track, it’s a sensory experience that can easily fill an entire day.
Family Fun at the Hippodrome
While the pre-race guided tours are in French and quite in-depth, the general atmosphere and the visual spectacle of the horses are captivating for all ages. The relatively low entry fee makes it an accessible outing for families looking for a unique day of entertainment without breaking the bank.

Dining and Refreshments
However, the venue allows attendees to leave and re-enter with a stamp on their arm, which offers flexibility. This has led some to suggest exploring dining options outside the hippodrome. Alternatively, for a more substantial meal, some recommend heading to Deauville beach.
For those who prefer to stay within the grounds, the bars are adequate for grabbing a beer between races, but for a full meal, external options might be more satisfying.
