What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Château de Suscinio for its impressive preservation and engaging medieval theme, making it a hit with both adults and children. The castle's stunning coastal location and surrounding natural beauty are frequently highlighted. Some guests noted that signage is primarily in French and navigation within the castle could be clearer, but overall, it's considered a worthwhile and beautiful historical site.
"Well preserved castle that used to be home to the ducs of Brittany. In perfect conditions, it's still undergoing renovation works to open all currently closed grounds. Excellent activity for kids and adults. A lot of hike trails start around the castle, ideal for birdwatching."

"A huge, well-restored castle located about 1/2 hour south of Vannes. Many rooms, activities for kids, and a few interesting displays (fancy crossbows, old tiles) and a few "cheesy" ones like "the Holy Grail." I don't get the point of the hanging figures in one dark room. Many visitors may not be that knowledgeable about Arthurian legend, so explaining this to adults would be great (maybe you did in French?) Nearly every display or sign is in French--it gets tiring to use Google translate for 2 hours. Multi-cultural signage definitely needed. Navigation was a bit confusing in a few places too. We got turned around several times. That said, exploring the nooks & crannies was pretty cool. The place would be even better with a few period gardens & a cafe (as well as more toilets). This place was absolutely astonishing in it's room size. I've been inside many castles & have never seen anything like it. Even the circular, tower stairs are wide and tall. Having a wet moat is pretty cool too. Overall, a wonderful place to visit."

"Gorgeous castle well worth the visit.
Beautifully restored with great explanations.
Worth going with kids as there are animations inside (all the stories about Arthur and the round table) and outside."
