What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Refuge de Bostan's stunning alpine location, friendly and helpful staff, and delicious, hearty meals. The terrace offers breathtaking views, making it a perfect spot to relax. While the dorms are functional and reasonably priced, some guests noted that toilet facilities and room ventilation could be improved.
"Five stars is not enough to describe my experience here. I was hiking with two friends when one suddenly became ill just before we reached the refuge (I think perhaps altitude sickness). The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, and calm and reassuring. They arranged for the pompiers to bring our friend down the mountain. Another hiker stepped in to offer assistance which was also a big relief. Meantime, two of us had a really delicious salad lunch, and the refuge staff didn't want to accept payment from my friend since he couldn't eat really (we paid of course, since the food was served). The experience really was of of 'refuge' and for that I am very grateful. I look forward to my next visit."

"Lovely location with good food and nice young people attending the place. The toilets could be way better (really: way better!) with just a little effort."

"Very nice mountain hut with wonderful staff. We received a warm welcome on arrival and enjoyed the terrace.
Diner and breakfast were great, the chef personally baked eggs during breakfast for everyone on demand. The price is very reasonable, especially compared to Swiss mountain huts on the other side of the border.
3 things which could make the experience even better:
More ventilation in the room. With room for 16 people and only a very small window it was really hot.
Get rid of the horrible dry toilet. The smell was unbearable, not only inside, but also outside.
I don't mind a cold shower, but in a washroom for both women and men it would be nice to at least be able to shower behind a closed door."
