🎨✨ Visiting the place where Vincent van Gogh was hospitalised was one of the most powerful experiences of my life. As someone who deeply admires his work and his story, walking through the same spaces where he painted some of his most iconic pieces felt surreal. You can almost feel his presence in the light, the walls, the gardens, the same views that inspired his brushstrokes still carry that sam...

#vicentevangogh #vangogh #treta

Reviews Summary

This small, charming museum offers an insightful look into Van Gogh's life and time in Saint-Rémy, though it lacks original artworks. Visitors praise the engaging exhibits and the historical context provided. While most staff interactions are positive, some have noted less welcoming experiences regarding language. Reddit

"It is a small and charming art museum, with basically no collection of Van Gogh’s work. We visited on July 6. When we asked questions in English, the ticketing lady responded with a long string of French, then told us in a rather unfriendly manner, “That’s how it feels when I hear English,” which took us by surprise.

We understand the pride French people have in their language. However, for foreign visitors, speaking only English is not necessarily a choice, often the only option. This was the only negative encounter we had during our two-week stay in France. We sincerely hope this lady will come to better respect international visitors."

"Such an interesting museum. When in Saint Remy absolutely worth a stop in. There are no actual Van Gogh’s but a very interesting exhibit that explains his life and especially his time in that region in France."

Navigating Visitor Experience and Staff Interactions

Visitor experiences at the Musée Estrine can be varied, particularly concerning interactions with staff. While many reviewers highlight the welcoming and informative nature of the staff, especially the lady at the desk who is described as 'delightful' and 'charming,' a few have reported less positive encounters. Reddit

One review mentioned an unfriendly response when asking questions in English, with the ticketing lady stating, 'That’s how it feels when I hear English.' This suggests that while the majority of visitors have positive interactions, there can be instances of cultural or linguistic friction.
