"Visiting Château Cos d’Estournel was an unforgettable experience
The estate is stunning, blending history and elegance seamlessly, and the attention to detail is extraordinary.
Great line up for tasting as well , good job"

ARTYOS

"Personally I thought the chateau here was VERY beautiful. The owner who I believe is the president of LVMH has outdone himself. In addition to the beauty, there's lots of technology at play during the production phase of each year, grapes are pressed and then gravity fed to their vats where they are then barreled and aged. They have some truly great wines on display but you need to have DEEP pockets to be able to afford them. Should be worth noting as well that a visit isn't free and will cost you."

"Thank you so much for creating such wonderful wines 👏😍 I set up a five course dinner around a bottle of 1982 D’Estournel and invited my two best friends. It was really something else and I feel privileged to have been able to enjoy such a vintage. ❤️"

The Architectural Marvel of Cos d'Estournel

Château Cos d'Estournel is renowned not just for its exceptional wines but also for its striking and unconventional architecture. The estate boasts a unique blend of styles, most notably its Indian-inspired pagodas and minarets, a testament to the vision of its former owner, Louis Gaspard d'Estournel, who was fascinated by the East. This exotic flair sets it apart from the more traditional châteaux of Bordeaux. The recent renovations have further enhanced its grandeur, incorporating modern technological advancements seamlessly into the historic setting. TikTok

One of the most captivating features is the glass bridge that spans across the main barrel cellar. This innovative design allows visitors to walk above the aging wines, offering a unique perspective of the winemaking process and the sheer scale of the cellar. Below, rows upon rows of oak barrels rest, silently maturing the château's prized vintages. The château also houses an impressive bottle library, showcasing a remarkable collection of past vintages, a visual representation of its rich history and winemaking legacy. Reddit

Understanding Cos d'Estournel Vintages

Château Cos d'Estournel is a Saint-Estèphe wine, classified as a Second Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. However, many consider its quality to be on par with First Growths, especially in certain vintages. The château is known for producing wines that are powerful, complex, and age-worthy, often displaying notes of blackcurrant, cedar, tobacco, and spice. The terroir of Saint-Estèphe, with its gravelly soils and proximity to the Gironde estuary, contributes to the wine's structure and longevity. TikTok

When considering specific vintages, keywords like Château Cos d'Estournel 2010, Cos d'Estournel 2015, and Château Cos d'Estournel 2016 are frequently searched, indicating strong interest in these highly regarded years. Older vintages, such as 1982 Chateau Cos d'Estournel or 1986 Chateau Cos d'Estournel, are considered exceptional and are often sought after by collectors. The Reddit community often discusses drinking windows for older Bordeaux wines, suggesting that many of these vintages are still developing beautifully and can be enjoyed for decades to come. Reddit

For those looking for more accessible options, Les Pagodes de Cos is the château's second wine. It offers a delightful expression of the estate's style at a younger age and often at a more approachable price point. Vintages like Pagodes de Cos 2019 and Pagodes de Cos 2015 are popular choices for those wanting to experience the Cos d'Estournel character without the investment of the grand vin. TikTok
