"So much maritime history and artifacts. Wasn't offered a self guided tour device unfortunately but used Google translate. Was a fascinating day out"

Riona Twomey Caplice

"Worth a visit lovely to see a good layout. It's all in French however there is an audio guide available at a small charge. Entre only 10 euro pp seniors"

Keith Allen

"This is a world class museum. Extremely well laid out but take an audio guide which is brilliant. To wander around the fort and the ramparts could take a couple of hours the museums (there are three and a temporary exhibition space) themselves three or more depending on your interest. If the weather is good, the views from the Ramparts across the bay are stunning. you are allowed to reenter so you can pop out for lunch or a swim or both(there is a very good beach good swimming at high tide and a couple of restaurants right next to the car park pass through a small gap in the fortification walls) and then return which is a good idea because there is an awful lot to see and take in. no food facilities but plenty of picnic tables. Toilets are good."
