Many appreciate seeing the iconic Impression, Sunrise and the extensive Water Lilies series in a less crowded setting than other major museums. Some note that the upper floor can get warm, especially during summer months, and that the collection is primarily focused on Monet, which might not appeal to those seeking broader art history.Reddit+1

"Lovely pieces of Monet, popular and some others more personal of Monet Tim while in giverny an early years including sketching notebooks. Also take some time to enjoy some amazing pieces of Boudin until August 31. Take some time to enjoy the art, you can get tickets online or in place, since there’s two lines and both move fast. Have a small shop with a variety of things (postcards, painting posters of different sides, magnets, stationery and books) also there is a small cafe in the gardens for you to pause, enjoy and refresh."

"I like this museum because it is much less crowded, so I can spend time observing the details of the paintings that I find interesting. There are lockers for your bags. You have to purchase a ticket first, and the staff will assign you a locker slot based on your bag size.

This museum is a must-visit for art lovers, especially fans of Impressionism. Here houses the world's largest collection of works by Claude Monet, including his iconic Impression, Sunrise, which gave the Impressionist movement its name."

"We went here with our 3 young boys (11-6 years old). They lean more towards soccer than art so I spent time on crafting the experience.

We went to Giverney (monet’s home and gardens and subject of much of his later art) the day before so we all had context for the Monet work at the museum.

It is small, digestible, with a limited but high quality Monet and wider impressionist collection. We were also attracted to come her for the size that realistically matches the attention span of our boys. We also chose the Marmottan because they offer classes for children. Check out the website.

Our boys got a tour (in English and French) along with other children from around the world, before heading down to the atelier to make art themselves. It was a hit for the boys and for my wife and myself who got to enjoy 1.5 hours without interruption in a gorgeous historical mansion surrounded by beautiful art.

Go for the kids class, take in the art for yourself, and head to Giverney the day before. It all helps provide meaning and context to the work. I found it more meaningful myself and the boys enjoyed making connections between their experiences the day before in the gardens, seeing Monet’s paintings of those gardens and then finally they own try at making art."
