Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Bibliothèque Sainte-Geneviève for its stunning 19th-century architecture and free entry, making it a beautiful spot for reading or working. However, some find the registration process cumbersome, the Wi-Fi slow, and the staff less than welcoming, leading to a mixed overall experience. Reddit

"Aesthetically pleasant library with spacious areas; however, after attending it for six months and comparing it with other libraries, many shortcomings became evident. First of all, there are times when you have to stand in extremely long lines even though the library inside is still half empty — and some people don’t even respect the queue and walk in without any problem, while others are let in by chance. I myself have often entered without waiting in line. Secondly, the staff is very rude and inattentive; they seem to act as if they’re doing you a favor by working there. Finally, the Wi-Fi inside is extremely slow, making it unsuitable for anyone doing research.

Not recommended."

"Coming here to work, you need to sign up and get a library card - completely free. You use the card to enter the library. There are plenty of seats but also plenty of people.
There is a eating room near the toilets.
What is interesting is the exit policy. There are three choices: You can leave unlimited times for 20 min. Leave once for one hour and final exit.

Overall I had no problems. Internet works fine."

"Beautiful library right next to Pantheon. You need to pre-register on their website and carry an ID. After that your entry is free! The staff is very polite and they also make a card for you at the entrance so you can visit whenever you want in the future. The main hall of the library is HUGE, lined with countless books and it looks so beautiful! A great place for working or reading."
