Reviews Summary
Plage des Dames is celebrated for its picturesque beauty, featuring a unique pier and charming retro cabins. Visitors appreciate the calm, shallow waters ideal for families and the scenic surroundings. However, the beach can become extremely crowded in summer, and parking is a significant challenge, with some also noting litter and the condition of facilities.
"Visited in early June and were finally blessed with some lovely weather. Wide sandy beach, we enjoyed a walk and the views back to the mainland.
There are a couple of restaurants and a snack bar above the beach.
We were very fortunate that it was not busy, but can image in high summer it must get crowded and parking must be difficult."

"Mixed feeling. Beautiful and very scenic beach and pier. Very busy in the summer and unfortunately many cigarette butts and pieces of glass in the sand as well as sharp sea shells. (I cut my feet on glass and on a shell)
Trash bins are quite far away which might explain the littering.
Parking is very difficult .
Toilets in terrible state."
Chrissi H
"Nice, large beach. Fully possible to swim/bath even in low tide. Several restaurants/brasseries. Very difficult to park, so it is recommended to cycle or walk. Free bus from Nourmoutier centre ville."

Family-Friendly Waters and Activities
Beyond swimming, the beach offers opportunities for shell hunting, with many visitors enjoying the search for unique finds along the shore. The presence of the Bois de la Chaise, a pine forest adjacent to the beach, provides shaded areas for relaxation and exploration, offering a break from the sun.
While the main beach can get busy, the sides of the beach are often quieter, offering more space for families to spread out. The shallow nature of the water means parents can keep a close eye on their children while they enjoy the seaside.
