What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Château des Ducs de Bretagne for its impressive architecture and the engaging, modern museum. The ability to explore the grounds and ramparts for free is a major highlight, offering great value and beautiful city views. While the museum requires a ticket, it's widely considered worth the cost for its comprehensive and accessible presentation of Nantes' history.
"Very well worth going. The chateau is very pretty, courtyard is big and there is plenty of space for sitting down and relax. The museum itself is top notch designed and very easy to walk around with clear signs and displays are nicely categorized. Combining with different ways of presenting: videos, games, 3D virtual screens, cartoon story telling, many other ways of references. Great for kids to visit. One of the best museums to visit, I didn’t feel bored at all during the 2 hours. The content of the museum is very educational, you get a full picture of the history of Nantes. And it’s not afraid of showing the “ugly” part of the history about salve trading. Some rare findings about WWII as well."

The walk around the castle wall is very enjoyable, also around the moat with the ducks swimming around.
Many people having picnics around the castle as well.
There are many shops and cafes / restaurants around the beautiful streets outside the castle. You can easily spend at least half a day in the vicinity."

"Had a very quick visit. You even can go through the gates for free and make some pictures. Part of the so called 'Green Line'. If you want more you can pay to go inside the castle itself"
