Reviews Summary

Visitors appreciate the Jardin des Plantes for its free entry, peaceful atmosphere, and historical significance, particularly its ancient trees. However, some reviews mention that the garden can appear dry and in need of maintenance, especially outside of peak blooming seasons, and that closing times can be quite early.

"The gardens are free to enter. Plenty of shade on a hot summer day in August. Beautifully landscaped, although many of the plants had finished blooming at this time of year and looked withered. I've visited much nicer botanical gardens, but this one is still worth a visit and easily combined with other sights in beautiful Montpellier!"

Joris V

"Dry. In serious need of maintenance.
It might be the time of year, but the whole place was really dry and the plants looked like they were on the brink of death.
The whole garden really looked like it needed a great deal of maintenance, from general grass cutting and weeding, to repairing concrete and fixing broken watering systems.
All in all, unfortunately I would say it’s not really worth the time in Montpellier."

Austen Urry

"One of the best park to visit if you are in Montpellier.
The park is completely free to access, but please remember walking on the grass and having picnics and dogs and bicycles are not allowed."
