What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Palais de l'Europe is a notable cultural venue in Menton, praised for its architecture and gardens, especially during special events like the Fête du Citron. However, some visitors have encountered issues with unclear opening hours, limited access, and less-than-friendly staff when information was requested in English.
"Very negative experience. From the outside, it was impossible to tell if it was open or closed. After being let in to an exhibition room, we were greeted by a very rude lady who, when asked for information in English, responded by speaking in French. She made me pay 3 euros (the website said it was free, but okay...), and only after making me pay, she tell me that the building was closed (in English), so we could only visit that one exhibition room. When I asked for further information, the lady laughed in my face and spoke in French (but she knew English well enough to ask for money...), speaking quickly and mocking us, thinking we wouldn't understand. Actually, my sister understands French but doesn't speak it, so she made a bad impression. I definitely wouldn't recommend it."
