What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Garavan is praised for its prestigious, tranquil atmosphere and beautiful port views, offering a serene escape on the French Riviera. However, some visitors have encountered significant issues with the local train station's ticketing system and accessibility, alongside reports of overly aggressive police interactions.
"Extremely rude police raid harassing the entire coach full of American tourists, demanding to show their passports in the middle of the night, for no
reason at all. In the most disrespectful, degrading way they threatened to throw a family of young girls and their mother in jail overnight because they only had their California driver licenses on them. Great job promoting tourism."

"Small safe station and just 10min walk from the sea and the amazing marina. The train takes you to Monaco or Italy in 5 minutes only."
Gabriel Balayan
"What a terrible train station in such an upscale part of Menton!! The only way you can purchase tickets is to use a machine and there is only one serving passengers travelling in both directions. How ridiculous! Give yourself at least 30 minutes, as the lineup is usually long. Secondly, the station is not accessible at all. I saw people hauling strollers and heavy luggage up and down the stairs, if their destination was Ventimiglia. What are you supposed to do if you are in a wheelchair? This is the 21st century for goodness sake! It’s totally unacceptable. Almost all the train stations in Italy have elevators on each platform. I hope someone from SNCF will read this review and will consider making some improvements."
