Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Château de Roquetaillade for its authentic, well-preserved medieval and Renaissance architecture, and its rich, engaging history brought to life by knowledgeable guides. The intimate atmosphere due to limited hours and fewer crowds is a significant draw, offering a genuine glimpse into rural French heritage. While the experience is overwhelmingly positive, a rare instance of poor customer service at the souvenir shop was noted.
"Wonderful tour of an “authentic” historical chateau with a backstory worth hearing that involves the first French pope. Incredible views of the estate and castle. Our tour guide was excellent and pricing for the tour was less than a glass of wine at one of the nearby vineyards. Well worth it for adults and children. Tour lasts about an hour which is just enough and then explore the grounds. Excellent day trip if you’re interested in seeing the real France. Definitely worth the time. We did lunch in a nearby town, the castle and dinner at another nearby town and was one of the best days on our trip. If you’re in to experiencing rural France and appreciate history you will enjoy this attraction!!"
