Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the Via Ferrata Yves Pollet-Villard for its stunning alpine views and exhilarating experience, calling it a highlight of their trips. It's praised as an excellent route for beginners with good physical condition, offering a great balance of challenge and accessibility. However, some note that it can get crowded, and the descent hike takes longer than expected.

"Short easy hike to the start.
Skill wise easy via ferrata, but lots of exposition and a long fall. Outstanding views and experience imo."

Piotr Jędrzejewski

"Perfect for first time Via Ferrata. Amazing views on a clear day. The route traverses up and along the rock face so you don’t feel too high and exposed at any time.

It takes 15 minutes to walk up to the start from the ample car parks by the roadside. Then about 2.5 - 3 hours to complete.

There is an escape route after the first hour and a choice of 2 sections to finish; one being and exciting climb over a little overhang or a sedate traverse to the end.

The route down follows a well marked path back to the car park. However this route is signed as taking 20 minutes but it actually takes 1 hour. So factor this in to your planning.

Several nice tourist restaurants for refreshments afterwards 1 mile further up the road at the Col."

Mark Ashby

"Very fun Via Ferrata just up le Col des Aravis. It took us about 2:45 hours. The last section has a hovering, and we bypassed it. You can make that call when you get there as you have a very good view of the overhang from the point where the Via ferrata splits for the bypass.

Quite a few section don't have a lot of hardware (except the cable of course) so expect to use hand and food holds on the rocks. There is plenty hardware when you need it though.

The hike to the start is closer to 30 minutes, and the hike back is close to 1 hour.

The views during the climb are spectacular!"

While the cable provides continuous protection, there are sections with significant exposure, meaning long drops are visible. InstagramReddit

Redditors note that while technically easy, the exposure and length can be demanding. Some sections have less hardware, requiring you to rely more on natural rock holds, which can be a great way to feel the rock without compromising safety. Reddit It's crucial to be comfortable with this level of exposure before attempting the route.

For beginners, it's highly recommended to go with a guide or someone experienced. This ensures you understand the techniques, safety protocols, and can assess your comfort level with the exposure. Instagram

Navigating Crowds and Timing

The Via Ferrata Yves Pollet-Villard is a popular attraction, especially during the summer months. Social media content often showcases sunny days, which also means more visitors.
