What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Champollion Museum for its insightful exhibits on the history of writing and its strong Egyptology section, all housed within a beautiful historic building. Many appreciate the friendly staff and the lovely views from the top floor. However, some find the content a bit dense, and it's generally recommended for visitors aged 8 and above.
"Three floors about the history of letters and writing. A bit too much for me although the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The best part in my opinion is the beautiful building, it’s architecture and the nice views from the balcony at the top."

"Great museum on writing. We took a 3 year old which was not the right age. I'd say 8 minimum and up. More museums like this 🙏"

"We really really liked the museum. It is located in the house where Champollion was born, on many floors you discover the history of humans and writing. There is a part of Egypt and egyptology, that we fancied the most.
And as a bonus, when you are getting tired of the museum, you finish on the highest floor where you have a great view on the square.
Dont forget to take the tiny road juste next to the house to see the huge Rosetta stone made on the ground, and some papyrus in the little park."
