What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Clisson Railway Station is praised for its recent renovation, cleanliness, and the addition of an art gallery, offering a pleasant atmosphere. However, significant drawbacks include extremely limited parking that fills up rapidly and poor infrastructure for cyclists, making bike access difficult. The viaduct itself is an impressive architectural feature.
"The station is very nice, but it lacks a larger parking lot. By 8:10 am, there were absolutely NO spaces left, which is a real shame considering how many trains serve the station.
For the good of humanity, please enlarge this parking lot; we can't stand having to park in spaces that only last 2.5 hours."
Sarah
"Very nice, well-renovated station, but very poorly adapted for bicycles. The elevator is forbidden to bicycles, and the access ramp to platforms 2 and 4 is blocked by a useless metal sign on hinges, which is heavy to push and therefore blocks the panniers on the sides. For a station on a cycle touring route on which they charge a supplement for bicycles, this is quite absurd..."
Guilherme Bleu
"What a hassle when traveling with bikes because the elevators to use the footbridge are too small, adult bikes don't fit in. So rails are installed at the level of the steps but it's not at all practical, especially with an electric bike which is heavy! It is urgent to adapt access to the footbridge"

The Clisson Railway Viaduct: An Architectural Landmark
For visitors, the viaduct serves as a prominent landmark, helping with orientation within Clisson. Its architectural style and scale make it a point of interest for those who appreciate industrial heritage. Many travelers encounter it as they arrive or depart via the railway station, or as they explore the town's surroundings, offering a picturesque backdrop for photographs.
Navigating Clisson Station with Cyclists in Mind
Furthermore, the access ramps to the platforms can be impractical. One common complaint involves a metal sign on hinges that obstructs the ramp, making it difficult to maneuver bikes and their panniers. This lack of adequate infrastructure is a significant drawback for a station that serves a region popular with cycle tourists, especially considering that a supplement is charged for transporting bicycles on trains. Travelers with bikes are advised to be prepared for a potentially cumbersome experience.
Station Amenities and Local Charm
While the station is praised for its aesthetic improvements and welcoming atmosphere, practical amenities like parking are a point of contention. The parking lot is notoriously small and fills up extremely quickly, often by early morning, leaving many visitors scrambling for alternatives or facing restrictions on parking duration. This contrast between the station's charming interior and its limited external facilities is a recurring theme in traveler feedback.
