What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Cap d'Ail Coastal Path for its absolutely breathtaking beauty and stunning Mediterranean views. It's described as a nice, relaxing, and quiet place, perfect for a good walk. While free and easy to reach, some note it can get windy, and the path has varied terrain including stairs and rocky sections.
"Absolutely breathtaking. We actually went on a day when it was really windy and it was shut but we saw a lot of people still do the walk so we also did it (obviously do this at your own risk), however it was stunning, I can’t recommend this enough, we walked all the way to Plage Mala in Cap D’Ail."

A Gentle Supportive Soul
"For starters, there are a few elements of this location's name and description that are not quite right. In other apps, you will find this trail listed as "Mala Beach Trail" or "Promenade Cap-d'Ail" or "Chemin du Bord de Mer." Additionally, there are no opening hours or closing hours; this free trail begins near the Marquet Beach (Plage Marquet).
The trail itself traverses the Mediterranean sea westwardly along a very nicely, smooth paved footpath for about 1.75 miles (outbound) before you have to ascend a steep staircase to navigate around some private properties. There are some areas of rock outcroppings, steps, single track/give way, and even a tunnel. There are three locations that have three very clean toilets.
Highly recommend for sunrise and sunset!"

It's an ideal route for a leisurely walk, a refreshing jog, or even a more challenging hike if you continue towards Monaco. The path is well-marked, but always pay attention to your surroundings, especially when navigating steeper or more uneven terrain.
One of the major highlights along the path is the descent to Plage Mala, a secluded and incredibly picturesque cove. Reaching it involves a significant set of stairs, but the reward is a pristine beach perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The calm, clear waters make it a fantastic spot for snorkeling, allowing you to explore the underwater world. Visitors often describe the experience as breathtaking, especially on a sunny day when the water shimmers with an almost unbelievable shade of blue.
While the beach itself is free to access, reaching it requires a walk along the coastal path and a descent down the stairs. It's advisable to wear appropriate footwear for the walk and the stairs.
