"Intetesting place to stop to look at museum of building underground canal tunnel & steam driven haulage system to chain barged through this section. Old barges & haulage still in situ on canal. No access to tunnel but a good walk along canal. Good parking, toilet in museum, very helpful staff"

"Nice little museum which we visited a day before travelling through the tunnel with our own boat being towed. There's a short video (English version available) and then lots of information boards in the restored tug (French only but museum has a short English guide).
The museum does a great job of capturing a way of life that has just about disappeared. It also presents this fascinating and innovative old engineering.
Well worth a visit and, if you won't be transiting the tunnel, remember to walk down to the canal to see the working tug from 1925 and peer into the tunnel. If you are there around 1100, you might just see the tug returning with boats from Vendhuile"

"Thank you to Georges for the very interesting explanation of this site. We would recommend a visit here."
