Patriarche is one of the largest and oldest merchant and wine maturer companies of Burgundy, located in the city center of Beaune. In 1796, the Patriarche family, known in Beaune since 1780 as a family of merchants and winegrowers, bought the former convent of the Visitand...

Converted from a convent in 1796, Patriarche cellars are the largest in Burgundy, spanning 5km of vaulted galleries and 2 million aging bottles. From here, it’s a 20 minute drive to Chagny and we had the most exquisite lunch at Maison Lameloise. This restaurant started in 1921, held 3 Michelin stars for 26 years. They lost their third star in 2005 & 2006. When Chef Jacques Lameloise retired and h...

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Patriarche Cellars for its impressive historic underground cellars and the excellent value of its wine tasting experience. While some note it's more focused on sales than deep wine education, the affordability and the opportunity to sample a variety of Burgundy wines make it a highly recommended stop for many. Reddit

"Self guided tour and tasting for 25 euros. Fantastic cellars, well laid out with informative video stations. For the tasting of 6 wines at the end Leane was professional and knowledgeable. We bought quite a few wines so maybe think about giving part of the initial fee back?"

Beverly Dutt

"This was hands down the absolute best vin degustation we have ever attended. Strongly recommend the privilege tour, but I truly believe that our guide, Murielle, was what made this experience exceptional. The tour of Les Caves was incredible. The wine was incredible as well. Add this to your list of “must do” wine tours while in Burgundy!"

Amberleigh Osborne

"I went to the champagne cellar in Reims and for this one. Erm…. To start with, this is so much cheaper, so if you are here to experience and wanna to taste different wine, 25Eur is worth the price. But to understand and learn more about wine making maybe this is nothing at all.

We tasted 3 whites, and 4 reds, and we tasted beyond what was on the list. The staff will roughly tweet the type of wine for you to taste depending the type of profile you like. I think is more a selling and promotion of wine for sales nothing wrong.

More wine to taste when you walked out of the underground cellar. So for people who really want to try at an affordable price. Recommended.

After tasting, you can bring back with you the tasting glass with the Patriarche label on."
