"🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
The Church of Saint-François de Sales was built between 1747 and 1749, and established as a parish church in 1751. It was blessed in 1749 by the Bishop of Marseille, Mgr Belzunce, the village of Bandol being part of this diocese. Initially, the church consisted of only a single nave; it was only later that it took on its current form. In 1782, two side naves were opened, formed by two chapels, Saint-Elme and Saint-Vincent de Paul, which had been built on either side of the exterior walls; the first in 1772 by the sailors' guild, the second in 1776 by the Black Penitents. The church then appeared as it does today: a nave with three naves and three bays. The main nave has a ceiling and the other two are vaulted. Round-arched arcades connect the naves. The main nave ends with an apse housing the choir surrounded by woodwork and decorated with paintings and frescoes. The façade opens its three doors onto a terrace, these doors, which are accessed by several steps, have a stone frame and are covered with a slightly curved lintel and an entablature. The part of the façade corresponding to the central nave is surmounted by a pediment framed by braces surmounting the part corresponding to the small naves. A square bell tower topped with a delicately worked clock fitting adjoins the apse."
