Reviews Summary
Reviews for Café Van Gogh are mixed, with many visitors reporting it as closed for extended periods. When open, experiences range from excellent meals and friendly service to slow service and a tourist-trap feel. The iconic location and potential for live music are often highlighted positives, but the uncertainty of its operational status is a significant drawback.
"It’s closed! When we visited in May 2024 it was closed and had been closed for over a year. Looking through the windows you can see mail on the floor, glasses and dishes still arranged as if it was open at one time but is just suddenly left like this. Tourists stand and pose to take pictures of this lovely spot Van Gogh painted which we did as well. There are lots of lovely terraces to sit at in the immediate area to eat and enjoy the view and of Arles."

"This place has been closed for over a year. There are plenty of spots to grab a drink or bite to eat and enjoy the view! If you’re a Van Gogh fan…… it’s a must see in the picturesque town of Arles!"

"Seems like this place is hit and miss. I was going to avoid this place based on other reviews and the tourist trap vibe, but my wife is a Van Gogh fanatic so she was hooked and there was no persuading her otherwise. I was prepared for a subpar experience but we experienced none of the issues others reported. The waitresses were fine, the blond young woman (seemed like a manager) was exceptional. Our meals were delicious - I had the Arlesien chicken and my wife had the prawn pasta. So I can only say our experience at the Van Gogh Cafe was great!"
