What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Protestant Temple Amiens is praised for its welcoming community and impressive architecture, offering a spiritual and fraternal experience. While most reviews highlight positive interactions and the beauty of the services, one reviewer expressed significant dissatisfaction with a pastor's inflexibility and perceived lack of empathy during a difficult time, alongside unexpected fees.
"Good morning,
I wanted to post a review.
My dad died on July 13, and the pastor whose name I don't know refused to do a mass around 1 p.m. on July 21, because we had to go to the crematorium around 2:30 p.m.
He offered to hold mass at 10:00 a.m., it was not possible for us, no flexibility, no empathy, while my family and I were devastated, and I will add that he was also not friendly.
My dad married my mom in the Amiens temple 60 years ago, and I was baptized there.
You asked questions if my dad came to the temple regularly.
On the other hand, you immediately had to pay 200 euros.
I just wanted to tell you that Dad was donating to the temple.
I am sad and angry especially for my Dad.
And it really makes you want to change your religion.
Fortunately for me, I knew a pastor throughout my childhood and my adult life who was human and Christian, I dare say.

"The Temple of Amiens is a monumental building, easy to access via a large Boulevard, and 5' from the Center itself. With parking, please, right in front of the square. Fifty steps-no more! and here you are sitting inside, welcomed kindly, fraternally, even if new, a stranger by race, religion, or atheist. (I am not a Protestant myself, although I sometimes protest!)
I regret not being able to say more about the Temple as architecture. Frankly speaking, I only admired it for 5', the first time, leaning against one of the columns, waiting for the opening. I admit to being impressed by this type of place dedicated to divine worship, because I can easily imagine the love and sacrifice of the faithful, before us, who desired a place dedicated to His divine Majesty so that future generations would hear, believe, and be saved.
But perhaps you will be interested, as I was myself, after taking 5' to admire the stone outside, to sit for 1 hour inside, open your eyes, and especially your ears!
What builds Christian piety, and which gives it a foundation, is found there, but inside the building, by:
- spiritual songs that we sing in full voice (the space allows it and the large organ stimulates it. Thanks to M., the organist)
- an exposition followed by the gospel of Jesus Christ, 20', no more, Sunday after Sunday, a form of preaching that I did not know, but which brings out what matters most, namely the divine character of the Son of man, in diverse and often contradictory situations, where he stands up to evil, and pulls the man who comes to Him out of all his distresses...ALL!
As this monumental Temple, rue Castelas, must have been founded by digging in depth by a wise architect and project manager, so, and even more so, the heart of every man must be founded by a superior wisdom: that of God and his word, sung, preached, received and spread outside the walls!"

"Very good service.
The pastor listens to his congregants. He knows how to comfort grieving families.
It's not my religion, but I really appreciated this moment of shared confession."
