What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Thermes Sextius offers a modern spa experience with clean facilities, including saunas, a jacuzzi, and a pleasant pool area. While the food is generally well-received, some visitors find the spa facilities limited for the price and note service can be slow when busy. It's best viewed as a contemporary relaxation spot rather than an extensive ancient thermal bath complex.
"Overall quite disappointing. Spa day with yoga class and lunch: The spa is really boring and has nothing to do with the hot springs! There is one jacuzzi and that's it! Dry and wet sauna, cold shower and a Zen room. Extremely disappointing. Nice yoga class but also quite boring in my opinion. The food in the restaurant was nice but as soon as the restaurant filled up the waiter completely forgot about us and each time we had to wait a long time until we managed to get his attention. And finally the cold coffee just sucks, there is no other word. The food was delicious"

"Fantastic afternoon at the Theremes Sextius after a busy morning walking round Aix-en-Provence. Lovely to chill by the pool with a rosé in hand and cool off with a quick dip! The facilities inside were nice too. Well worth the €50 day entry charge."

"Fantastic!
Thanks to the therm settled by the Romans twenty centuries ago, we can relax in warm natural water.
Modern installation brings additional water tricks like "tropical rain shower" and the big bucket full of cold water for the brave. Only the second one hurts because the first is warmed by the hot atmosphere...Usually.
The staff is discreet and everything goes smoothly.
It is a haven of peace."

The 'Thermes Sextius' Experience: Modern Spa vs. Ancient Baths
It's important for potential visitors to manage their expectations. Those seeking extensive, natural thermal pools might find the facilities limited. However, for a relaxing afternoon with a focus on clean, well-maintained amenities and a peaceful atmosphere, Thermes Sextius delivers. The outdoor pool area is particularly pleasant for unwinding, especially with a refreshing drink in hand.
Despite some reviews noting the spa is 'boring' or 'disappointing' due to its limited scale compared to traditional thermal complexes, many still find it a 'haven of peace' and a 'great place to relax.' The key is to appreciate it for what it is: a modern urban spa offering a respite from busy sightseeing.
Dining and Service at Thermes Sextius
However, a recurring point of feedback concerns the service, particularly when the restaurant becomes busy. Some guests have reported feeling forgotten by the waitstaff, leading to long waits to get attention. This can detract from the overall relaxing experience, especially after a spa session.
Despite these service hiccups, the culinary aspect remains a strong point. It's advisable to dine during off-peak hours if possible, or to be patient and proactive in signaling for service to ensure a smoother dining experience.
