What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Milavida Museum Näsilinna for its beautifully restored mansion and engaging exhibits, particularly the historical displays and stunning opera costumes. The cafe is a popular spot for its delightful cakes and pastries, though some have experienced issues with card payments. While generally well-received, a few visitors felt the permanent exhibit could benefit from more detailed information.
"This beautiful former mansion is certainly worth a visit. The ground floor houses a cafe with good food, and a few rooms for dining or for private functions. The first floor has two sections: one is the permanent exhibit, and the other was about Opera costumes at the time of our visit.
The permanent exhibit is about the family who built the house and about the house's history. The group in charge have done a fabulous job of restoring the building after the devastation it suffered through the years. Very interesting and informative.
The Opera costume exhibit was also interesting. I'm not an Opera fan, but these outfits were something else! Some included pictures of the actor wearing them, including Rudolph Nureyev and Pavarotti. A couple were designed by Picasso.
This is a beautiful place, which we enjoyed very much."

"Would love to have experienced the museum with my son, but the cafe's payment connection did not work, and I did not have enough cash. Suggested that maybe in this case we could enter without payment but that was not possible.
Disappointing as this was the only time we're here from Sydney..."
Minna Monaghan
"One of the most beautiful places in Tampere. Wonderful cafe with bounteous selection of cakes and pastries."
