What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors acknowledge the Konstantinovskaya Tower's significant historical value as a medieval military monument and former arsenal. However, many express disappointment over its current state of deterioration and the fact that it is fenced off, limiting close-up viewing and access. The lack of restoration efforts is a recurring point of concern.
"The Tower of St. Constantine is a monument of medieval military architecture in Feodosia. It was built in 1382, rebuilt in 1443 and later by the Ottoman Turks.
Among the many towers in the defensive system of Kafa, this was one of the key ones. It closed the outer belt of the defensive line. From the Tower of St. Constantine, it went to Mount Mithridates, then descended to the sea, going around the city in a semicircle. In front of the fortress wall there was a deep moat, over which bridges were thrown in front of the gate.
The tower was also called the arsenal, since it stored weapons - halberds, swords, crossbows, spears, arrows, stone cores, etc. Not far from the tower were the main fortress gates, which were named after St. George the Victorious under the Genoese, and under the Turks from 1475 - Agli-Kapu (Gate of the Horseman)."

"The Tower of St. Constantine is a monument of medieval military architecture in Feodosia. It was built in 1382, then rebuilt in 1443. The tower was also called the Arsenal Tower, as it stored weapons - halberds, swords, crossbows, spears, arrows, stone cores, etc. It has a huge history, there are few such places left in Crimea. Now, unfortunately, it is not being restored and is deteriorating over time."

"The Constantine Tower is currently experiencing its worst years. It's been in this state for several years now. At first, it began to crumble. Thank goodness they at least put up these supports and a fence. And now, for over two years, it's been in this deplorable state. The city administration is doing virtually nothing to restore and preserve the architectural monuments and cultural heritage."
