Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Ancient Salamis for its remarkable historical significance and atmospheric ruins, offering a glimpse into a once-great city. The affordability of the entrance fee is a major plus. However, some note the vastness of the site requires good preparation for heat and comfortable footwear, and caution is advised due to potential wildlife.

"This is the right site for Salamis city. The entrance fee is 50tl or 20tl for students. Cheap as chips. For somewhat reason i was not charged any. There are two routes. One red line ome blue line. The red line is a small loop that takes you around some major ruins. Whereas The big loop is way longer and takes you to a few scattered ruins including a temple for Zeus. I attempted to go However i only got to site number 8 and i ran into this brown guy below and i literally took to my heels! There are quite lots of snakes and gekos or whatever around. I'd say go in a big group and be mindful of their activities"

Photography Tips for Ancient Salamis

Ancient Salamis offers a photographer's paradise, with its evocative ruins set against the backdrop of the Cypriot landscape. To capture the best shots, timing is crucial. Aim for the early morning or late afternoon, during the 'golden hours,' when the light is soft and warm, casting long shadows that accentuate the textures of the ancient stones. This also helps in avoiding the harsh midday sun and larger crowds. Instagram+1

Utilize a wide-angle lens to capture the expansive scale of the theatre, agora, and gymnasium. For more intimate shots, a telephoto lens can isolate architectural details or create compelling compositions of the scattered ruins. Consider bringing a tripod for stable shots during lower light conditions, especially if you're aiming for dramatic sunset or sunrise photos. Instagram

Look for unique perspectives – from ground level to slightly elevated viewpoints if available. The contrast between the ancient stone and the surrounding nature, including the nearby coastline, provides ample opportunities for creative shots. Remember to be respectful of the historical site and any other visitors while you're capturing its beauty. Instagram
