"Lots of clouds but peaceful and beautiful!
You’ll feel like Legolas running in Rohan walking across the high herbs.
Road is bad though, and flooded at the lake (can’t cross)."

"Fuya Fuya is beautiful but make sure you come here no later than 12 pm.
The park doesn’t have admission so anyone can come and cause trouble to anyone just hiking by.
My advice come early at around 8 am where there’s more people and hike as much as you can but be heading back soon.
Leaving unattended parked cars for too long isn’t the safest thing to do in a public park like this.
Go with a tour or taxi but doing it by yourself wouldn’t be advised unless you’re knowledgeable about the trail and park.
It appears that the best way to enjoy this lake is to “do what the locals do” and drive your car around the park and leave the car when you want a better view or for pictures but on the day we went we were the only ones there “hiking” and it felt weirdly unsettling so we only were in the park for an hour and left."

The Ascent: Hiking Fuya Fuya
It's crucial to prepare adequately for the hike. The mountain weather is notoriously unpredictable, with clouds often rolling in by midday. Therefore, starting your hike early in the morning, ideally before noon, is highly recommended to ensure clearer views and a more pleasant experience. Sturdy hiking boots with good traction are essential, as the terrain can be uneven and slippery, especially after rain. Layered clothing is also key; bring warm layers, a waterproof jacket, gloves, and a hat to adapt to the changing temperatures.
For those less familiar with the area or seeking a more secure experience, going with a guided tour or a local taxi is a popular and advisable option. Guides can provide valuable insights into the trail, local flora and fauna, and ensure your safety. They can also help navigate the sometimes challenging road access to the trailhead. While independent hiking is possible, it's best suited for experienced hikers who are comfortable with navigation and potential weather changes.
The Mojanda Lagoons: A Serene Contrast
While the summit hike is a primary draw, spending time around the Mojanda Lagoons is highly recommended. It's a perfect spot for a picnic, photography, or simply enjoying the peaceful ambiance. However, be aware that the road leading to the lake area can be rough and prone to flooding, especially during the rainy season, which might make access difficult later in the day. Many locals drive around the park and stop for better views or photos, highlighting the informal nature of access to certain spots.
For those looking to extend their stay or explore more, there are opportunities for camping near the lagoons, offering a chance to experience the tranquility of the area under the stars. The natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere make the Lagunas de Mojanda a must-visit component of any trip to the Fuya Fuya area.
