Loja's historic center is praised for its charm, cleanliness, and the iconic Puerta de la Ciudad, offering great photo opportunities. Visitors appreciate the city's musical heritage and the friendly locals, making it a pleasant place to explore on foot. Some minor concerns include occasional river trash and later opening hours for some establishments.

"The city of Loja is a charming destination to visit, it is renowned for its music scene and rich cultural heritage. Puerta de la ciudad, it represents a magical space due to its structure in the form of a castle in the center of the city. People are attentive, respectful and kind to tourists. This place is always kept clean and quiet. We were really excited to walk into town from the bus terminal and be able to cross a bridge and walk through this dramatic city gate. It looks 100 years old but surprisingly is fairly recent. Nice detail and picturesque. A great feature of Loja!
An historically accurate representation of a Spanish Colonial City Gate that has become one of the major sites in Loja for great photo opportunities. Near other historical artworks and place you do not want to miss on your visit to Loja!"

Jim J.

"There are artistic paintings, historic sites and a garden setting with a river. The river itself has some trash on some areas (i.e. Rincon De Borgoña restaurant side) The area itself was a short walk. The restaurants in the area are not open until 10am."
