Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Parque Seminario for its unique charm and the unforgettable experience of seeing numerous iguanas roaming freely. It's described as a peaceful, well-maintained urban oasis offering a delightful break from the city bustle. While some note the temptation to feed the animals, most appreciate the park's natural ambiance and its central, accessible location.

"We visited Parque Seminario during our trip to Guayaquil and really enjoyed it. It’s a small, charming park right in the city center, full of life with free-roaming iguanas, small tortoises, and birds. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming — a perfect little break from the busy streets. Definitely worth a quick visit!"

Anastasia Bilous

"Parque Seminario, also known as Iguana Park, is a small but beautiful green space in the center of Guayaquil. The park is well-kept, with shaded benches, trees, and a calm atmosphere that feels like a peaceful break from the busy city. The highlight is, of course, the iguanas that roam freely. They climb the trees, lounge on the grass, and are surprisingly calm around people, making it easy to take pictures or simply observe them up close.

What makes this park special is the mix of history and charm with the unique experience of sharing the space with dozens of iguanas. Families, tourists, and locals all enjoy it, and the environment feels welcoming. The gardens and walkways are clean and inviting, and the presence of the iguanas gives the park a memorable character that you don’t see anywhere else.

Overall, Parque Seminario is a must-see spot in Guayaquil—not because of its size, but because of its atmosphere and the one-of-a-kind experience it offers."

"Semanario park is directly in front of the cathedral, which is worth a 10min free visit in itself.  The park is most famous for the 100 very tame large green iguanas that live here. There are signs posted do not touch and do not feed; there are guards to enforce the rules. But enforcement seemed random, if you are determined it is quite possible to feed and handle the lizards, they are very docile. But you might get caught and you might get bit."
