The nature in the Cayambe-Coca National Park in Ecuador is breathtaking beautiful. There we opened our tent at 4000 meters of altitude and had a free view of the two volcanoes Cayambe (5790m) and Antisana (5753m). @bikepacking_inspiration @bikepackingcom @bikewander @bike._.travel @bike10line @worldbybike34 @worldbycycling @leventvebisikletleri @bikepacking_gear @bikepacking.ecuador

"This absolutely stunning volcanic hot springs was a wonderful experience. The views are lovely, the atmosphere is like a dream. The hot springs is relaxing, a cold plunge is refreshing, a healing and holistic experience. They charge a fee upon entry, upgrades are available. If you are interested in spa services it’s advised to book in advance. Unfortunately they did not have availability the day of, for a massage so I opted for general admission and was very pleased with that option. Facilities are well kept and efficient, with towel rentals, lockers, baskets to carry your items, showers, changing room, clean restrooms. "What a beautiful place! To enter the park, there is a 4km drive up a rough, dirt road which gains you a lot of elevation. Once at the entrance, there are a number of trails to take! This is the habitat of the spectacled bear and mountain tapir so if you're very lucky you may have a chance of seeing them! Beautiful highland scenery with lots of lakes and pampas hills! Definitely recommend, not very far from Quito."

Exploring the Paramo Ecosystem

Cayambe Coca National Park is a prime example of Ecuador's paramo ecosystem, a unique high-altitude grassland found in the Andes. This environment is characterized by its high humidity, frequent mist, and a rich diversity of specialized flora and fauna adapted to the harsh conditions.Instagram+1 You'll find an abundance of mosses, lichens, ferns, and unique flowering plants, often draped over gnarled trees in a mystical, almost prehistoric fashion.

Hiking through the paramo feels like stepping into another world. The air is crisp, and the landscape is often dotted with small lakes and streams, contributing to the area's role as a vital water source for surrounding regions. Be prepared for wet conditions; rubber boots are highly recommended as trails can become muddy and waterlogged.Reddit The visual appeal is immense, with dramatic cloud formations and sweeping vistas that change with the ever-shifting weather.Instagram+1

While the paramo is stunning, it's also a fragile ecosystem. Visitors are encouraged to stay on marked trails to minimize their impact. The unique biodiversity, including rare orchids and specialized bird species,Instagram makes it a fascinating area for nature enthusiasts and photographers alike. The sheer remoteness and untouched beauty contribute to its allure.Instagram
