Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Plaza de la Bandera as a significant, free-to-enter patriotic landmark with a colossal flag and historical monuments. However, many caution about the intense midday heat and the challenging traffic surrounding the busy intersection. Reddit+3

"I walked the whole way from the caribe tours bus station to here (I was curious to see it and didn't feel like catching the bus to get there) , I had no idea what it was at the time of visit but it's a monument dedicated to the flag of the Dominican Republic. Underneath the flag are statues, the flag itself is gigantic. I was surprised how large and crowd-free this monument is, although it is surrounded by the busy road with heavy traffic coming from west part of Santo Domingo and beyond. Completely free, no entry fees or anything. I saw only two people even though it's almost the size of a soccer field. Definitely a hidden gem and worth the journey."

"A very iconic place in the Dominican Republic's culture. It's totally free of charge.

There's a statue that represents a important moment in our history, you can research for more and it's really hot because there's no roof or tress where you can sit without being bothered by the sun or where you can chill, you can take nice pictures there or exercise. It marked history by protestors on February 2020 against government fraud during elections. It will always be symbol or rebellion, freedom and Dominican pride and hould be treated with respect and taken care of."

Raysandra Ramírez Mora

"Beautiful! Dominicans should take a lot of pride in this place. Very patriotic and perfect to take pictures for both resident and tourist. I would just recommend to come here either earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon. I came here during the mid-day around 12pm and it was SUPER HOT!"
