Reviews Summary

Nørreport Station is a highly convenient transit hub, praised for its connectivity to Metro, S-train, and regional lines, and its proximity to shops and eateries. "Great place.
Nørreport Station is a station in Copenhagen that, together with Copenhagen Central Station, is the only station with both Metro, S-train, regional train and long-distance train traffic. The station is completely underground, meaning there is no train traffic at street level, only access to the platforms.

Nørreport was one of Copenhagen's four city gates. The three other city gates to Copenhagen were Østerport, Vesterport and Amagerport. Nørreport was the port of entry for travelers from Norway, Sweden who arrived via Helsingør. Because of its location, it was also the gate travelers from eastern and northern Zealand used when entering the city. When the Danish royals often used Frederiksborg Castle as a summer residence and passed through Nørreport on their way there, the street just inside the gate was called Frederiksborggade, a name it still bears.
An older gate was replaced in 1671 by a new gate, built by Christian V according to drawings by Lambert van Haven. This new gate became Copenhagen's tallest and most artistically decorated city gate. The decoration was in sandstone and consisted, among other things, of of a female figure on each side of the gate as a symbol of godliness and justice, thus alluding to Christian V's language of choice.
Nørreport was demolished in 1857 when the ramparts around the city were taken down.
In 1925, one was set up by P.V. Jensen Klint drew the zero point stone next to Frederiksborggade 20A, which marks where Nørreport was located."

"The metro is clean, but clearly lacks consideration for tourists. In July, I took the M1 from Nørreport to Kongens Nytorv with my two young children, and the experience was less than pleasant. The ticket machines at Nørreport were difficult to find, and buying the correct tickets wasn't easy. The metro staff were arrogant and disrespectful to passengers."

The Historical Nørreport City Gate

Nørreport was once a vital city gate in Copenhagen, serving as an entry point for travelers from Norway and Sweden arriving via Helsingør. Its strategic location also welcomed those from eastern and northern Zealand. The gate was particularly significant as Danish royals often passed through it on their way to Frederiksborg Castle, leading to the street inside being named Frederiksborggade, a name it retains today. Reddit
