Reviews Summary

Visitors find Christiansfeld to be a uniquely serene and historically significant UNESCO World Heritage site, praised for its well-preserved Moravian settlement and austere church. While some find the simplicity profound, others might desire more conventional attractions. The town's famous honey cookies are a consistent delight.

"Very simple yet serene church that is part of the unesco world heritage sites. First time visiting a moravian church and was quite pleased by the experience. Had trouble finding the entrance as it closed and you have to open it yourself but it’s the one the south facing the garden. Free entrance and usually no one so you spend some quality solo time here. Best part of christianfeld."

"Sobriety at its best! At the request of King Christian VII, the town of Christiansfeld was founded in 1773 by the Moravian Brethren. The church building was the center of this new soberly designed settlement. This austerity is reflected in the exterior and interior of this church. From the outside the church is barely recognizable as such, the small spire is the main ecclesiastical feature. Inside, the church is also a model of austerity: long rows of benches, a pulpit and an organ. Other ecclesiastical elements such as an altar, a baptismal font and statues or Christian images are missing. This church is interesting because of its different austerity."
