The beautiful historic estate sits on the fjord hillside, offering a stunning view over lush, wide meadows. You are welcomed very warmly, and the staff throughout the entire hotel is incredibly friendly, attentive, and accommodating.
The hotel interior is surprisingly modern, not nearly as lavish as I expected. The spa is definitely worth recommending—there is nothing missing. There are lovely outdoor pools, and even in that area you are well taken care of with drinks and everything you need. The hotel’s gym is also exceptional: very modern equipment, clean, and overall excellent.
However, I must admit that I was somewhat disappointed with the hotel room. We had booked an expensive room with a fjord view and a balcony—both of which were indeed beautiful. But the room itself, in terms of furnishings, did not meet the standard of an average city hotel and only offered basic amenities. There were not even any cold drinks available, very limited storage space, no sound system, little thoughtful furnishing, and an unattractive brown carpet. The room did not feel premium, and this could certainly be improved.
Another constructive point of criticism is the large number of additional paid services. For example, at breakfast you had to pay extra for a cappuccino, and there was no staff going around to offer coffee refills. You really had to get everything yourself, which I honestly find disappointing for a hotel of this class and price"

"My husband and I stayed at the Comwell for three nights. We did not have the spa package and didn't realize there is absolutely nothing to do on the hotel grounds save for walking the area. Sure, the area is picturesque and is a beautiful walk but that's it. No pool or other amenities in the room unless you had the spa packages.. Upon check in the hotel staff was very unhelpful and rather snarly. I asked for water to have in the room but was told to drink from the bathroom sink (in plastic cups). We took a walk around the hotel and found our way to the spa side. We were shocked to see how much nicer that area was compared to where our side was. The spa side was beautiful, quiet, with robes and slippers for the guests. Seemingly a different hotel completely. Our room had no amenities in the room other than body wash. That said, the rooms are large and the AC was fabulous. So the lesson here is if you want to stay in a very pretty hotel but don't have money to spend on spa packages, move alone."

After choosing a wine from the menu, it took another 30 minutes for the waiter to inform us it was unavailable, forcing us to choose again. The final insult was my first course arriving with a large, half-dead fly in it.
What shocked me most was not just the poor conditions, but the complete lack of response from staff. There was no apology, no offer of compensation, and no sign that anyone cared about the experience we had. As a loyal returning guest, this was deeply disappointing, and it has made me question whether I will ever return."
