What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Terasa U Prince is celebrated for its absolutely breathtaking views of Prague's Old Town Square, making it a top spot for photos and memorable evenings. While the food and cocktails are generally well-received, some visitors note that service can be inconsistent and prices are on the higher side due to the prime location.
"What a wonderful evening. We chose to eat up in the Roof Terrace which was lovely & as cosy as it could be given there is still an outdoor element. Robert was our waiter and he was very good at his job, efficient & friendly, making sure we were happy. The meal was exquisite and we enjoyed the cocktails. I Highly recommend this venue."

"Lunch here was a great start to our holiday in Prague.
This place is famously known as a photo spot as it has a flower-filled balcony that overlooks the Astronomical Clock and is often deemed one of "the photos to take in Prague".
From the ground level, you would have to walk in towards the lift, take the lift up to the restaurant lobby. From the restaurant lobby, you would then take 2 flight of slightly narrow stairs up to the restaurant's seating area.
Once you're up, you'll be able to get a cool breeze (if you went in the summer) and if you're going during lunch, there should be an abundance of seating areas available. I would still recommend calling to ask for a reservation beforehand.
The food was also good - the steak was done to my liking and the pasta for my wife was done well. The environment is quiet and there were mainly couples or small families dining. The staff were also quick to attend to us.
Once you're done with your food and before you leave, don't forget to head to the balcony and take a photo before you leave! There should already be other diners lining up to take photos so it should be easy to spot."

"The place has a beautiful view, which was the main reason we came. Unfortunately, the service was just okay. When we arrived, we mentioned we wanted to eat and enjoy the view, but we were seated on the side without it. When we asked why we couldn’t sit on the nicer side, we were told that section was for drinks only, something that wasn’t communicated clearly upfront.
We ended up skipping the food and just ordering a lemonade and sparkling water so we could enjoy the view instead. One of the servers really stood out for being kind and helpful, she took great photos for us and was encouraging everyone to enjoy the moment, which we appreciated.
Other than that, the hostesses didn’t feel very welcoming, and the overall vibe from the staff was a bit cold. If you're coming here just for the view and a quick drink, it's worth it, but don’t expect warm service across the board."

The Iconic View: More Than Just a Photo Op
While the view is spectacular, it's important to manage expectations regarding the overall experience. Some reviews suggest that the service can be inconsistent, with some staff being exceptionally friendly and helpful, while others may appear less engaged. The pricing also reflects its prime location and view, so it's considered a more of a splurge for many. Despite these points, the sheer visual impact of the Old Town Square from this perspective is often deemed worth the visit, especially for those seeking that iconic Prague postcard moment.
Dining and Drinks: A Culinary Experience with a View
For those who prefer a more casual experience or are on a tighter budget, the rooftop bar is an excellent alternative. You can enjoy the same stunning views with a drink in hand, without the commitment of a full meal. While the food is generally well-regarded, it's worth noting that prices are higher due to the location. Some visitors recommend visiting in the morning for breakfast, which is described as simple but tasty, and often less crowded. Regardless of whether you choose to dine or just have a drink, the combination of good food/drinks and the spectacular view creates a memorable experience.
Navigating the Terrace: Access and Etiquette
When it comes to the famous photo spot on the flower-filled balcony, a degree of etiquette is advised. While it's a popular attraction, be mindful of other diners who are also trying to enjoy their meal or drinks. There have been some reports of potential photo fees, though this isn't consistently confirmed. It's best to be prepared for this possibility or simply enjoy taking quick photos without lingering too long if the area is busy. The general advice is to be respectful of the space and other patrons to ensure everyone has a pleasant experience.
