What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the breathtaking panoramic views of Prague Castle and Charles Bridge from the Lesser Town Bridge Towers. The historical significance and unique architecture, including the wooden stairs, are also highly praised. Some find the climb challenging, and crowds can be an issue during peak times.
"We were able to climb the towers on either end of the Charles Bridge. I apologize if I’ve mixed the photos up between the two. The views were fabulous from both ends! I would recommend that you climb both towers. The people that work at the towers are super nice and very informative about the history of the towers and Prague. It was nice to climb up above all of the crowds crossing the bridge.
I would definitely recommend that you visit both of these towers! If you don’t have tickets ahead, just walk into the towers to their ticket booth and purchase tickets on site.
Your ticket also gives you a discount for the tram on that day."

"I did not know what to expect when I decided to buy my ticket. The staff were friendly. I purchased cute cards to take home as gifts. The tower is nicely maintained. The view was beautiful."

"This was my favorite view spot of both old town and lesser town. I think you get a good view of the Charles bridge from the lower platform, and you ah e great views of castle and other lesser town sections from the top. I also thought you had a more Panaramic view of Old Town than from the other towers on old town side other maybe than the astronomical tower associated with Klemnetinum"

The History and Significance of the Towers
Historically, these towers played a crucial role in protecting Prague. They witnessed numerous conflicts and sieges throughout the centuries. The Judith Tower is particularly notable for being the only surviving part of the original Romanesque bridge fortification. Today, climbing these towers offers a tangible connection to Prague's medieval past, allowing visitors to stand where guards once stood and survey the city from a strategic vantage point.
Many visitors are fascinated by the unique wooden spiral staircases inside the towers, which are a testament to medieval engineering. The experience of ascending these stairs adds to the historical immersion. While their defensive purpose is long gone, their role as iconic landmarks and providers of breathtaking views is more prominent than ever.
Capturing the Perfect Prague Panorama
To get the best shots, timing is everything. Early mornings offer soft, golden light and fewer crowds, allowing for unobstructed views and a more peaceful experience. Late afternoons, leading up to sunset, provide warm, dramatic lighting that can make the city's spires and rooftops glow. Many visitors find the perspective looking down the length of Charles Bridge towards the Old Town Bridge Tower particularly compelling.
Remember that the climb involves navigating narrow, winding stairs, so be prepared to move efficiently.
