What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Quinta de los Molinos offers a tranquil escape with its beautiful gardens and a captivating butterfly conservatory. Visitors appreciate the historical insights from the museum. However, concerns about animal welfare in some enclosures and reports of unofficial entry fees and negative interactions with staff detract from the experience for some.
"Inhumane animal cages, needless cruelty that could be addressed with some inexpensive changes. The scarlet macaw has ripped out all its feathers due to stress, it needs a larger space (frankly it is an inappropriate bird for zoo captivity). The two rabbits in the wire floor cage need a solid board to sit on (rabbits have soft foot pads, so the current setup is cruel). The other bird cages need cleaning and solitary birds need grouping with companions to meet basic stimulation needs.
As a tourist, please consider skipping this garden, as your entry ticket funds the ongoing mistreatment. Even the most seasoned travellers that have 'seen it all' are just going to leave feeling miserable – and for what?"

"First of all, my girlfriend and I (she's cuban) were greeted by a security guard who requested a bribe of 5 USD who then took us to another back entrance to get in, incredibly shady. This place is not well maintained at all, in fact it's very sad. Nice little park in the middle of a bustling city but nothing special"

"The tropical garden is nice, but the security people and the director of the garden wanted to charges us 2 times even we paid at the entrance already. They insulted me to leave even tho we had paid, also they initially wanted to charge 10 dollars for 2 people even tho it's 6 dollars for 2. I don't recommend it. The security guy spit at me because he got angry that we already paid, in front of the director of the tropical garden and she supported it ! Terrible experience! I have never being treated like that, I'm still in shock !"
