"The train from San Jose to Cartago is a unique experience. For C550 ($1) you get a ride between the two cities on the narrow gauge railway that is at times a bit rollicking in cars that are sometimes a bit packed. You get to meet Ticos doing their everyday routines. Not for everyone but we had a lot of fun.
The station has a platform with a canopy and a wicket you can buy tickets. Nothing exciting but it does the job."
