We absolutely loved our time at the Shipwreck Hut in Arorangi! This place truly defines the perfect island bar experience—it’s literally right on the white sand, creating the most relaxed atmosphere imaginable.
But beyond the stunning location, the value here is outstanding. You have to try the tacos! For about $29 NZD (around $15 USD), you get three huge, full-size tacos that are packed with flavor and make a seriously satisfying meal. They are some of the best-priced and best-tasting eats we found on the island.
The drinks were good, the atmosphere was fun, and the staff were incredibly helpful, operating with that wonderful, genuine Rarotongan friendliness.
An added bonus: the cheap rentals! Being able to grab snorkeling or kayaking gear for just $10 NZD (about $5 USD) made it so easy to get out and enjoy the lagoon. Come for the sunset (it’s around 7:00 PM tonight!), stay for the great tacos, and enjoy the perfect island vibe. Meitaki Ma’ata!"
