What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Termales El Otoño offers a beautiful natural setting with therapeutic hot springs and a relaxing spa. However, guests report mixed experiences with accommodation maintenance, dining quality, and service consistency. While the grounds and thermal waters are highlights, some find the pricing high for the overall value received.
"The hotel lobby, bar and grounds are very nice. Out of all the springs they have, only two are worth being in: The larger one near the cabins on the west of the property and one that is near the newer (cold) pool...but it is small and crowded. All the other ones are small and too shallow to sit in. Your upper body will get cold. We did the VIP jacuzzi area where the pools are nice but they play (horrible) music all day. What's the point of a nature setting with music blasting all day?
We stayed in a luxury room in the newer building. The bathroom had spots on the floor near the toilet area...which is gross and should be cleaned better. You will hear all noises, at all hours. Second day, we didn't get towels and it is hard to get someone at the front desk, so I had to go track some down. Very pricey for the room type.
Staff are generally nice. We only had two negative experiences: one with housekeeping when asked where something was and she said she was new and walked away. The other was with some waiter in a red vest who started getting upset and saying that we needed to open a tab to order food. We explained that we had already opened one with another waiter but I think he had something up his you know what that day and he just got upset and left. Mind you this is in the VIP section we paid $300K pesos for.
Note that on weekdays, the hotel may host conventions. This will add to the noise and some sections being closed including pools. The restaurant menu is very limited right now, so not a lot of choices. Overpriced meat and potatoes/fries, pasta or pizza. Breakfast was OK, with the eggs being horrible, but a good selection of fruits."

"The place is beautifully laid out with an immense amount of plants around each corner making the hot springs feel secluded and private. There are 3 main sections. The ones next to the bar are more vibrant. Waiters can serve food and drinks pretty much anywhere on property. Rooms are roomy. Oddly there was no trash can in the room. Only in the bathroom. Stayed in the newer building and it has areas in construction. Hot water didn’t work. Beds fitted with comforters that are just right for the night chill. Staff were super friendly. Definitely recommend and will probably return."

"Curtains with mold, urine stench in the shower.
Breakfast quality was bland at best."

The Thermal Waters: Nature's Healing Touch
While the concept of 24-hour access to hot springs is appealing, some guests have noted that not all pools are equally enjoyable. The effectiveness and temperature of the water can vary, and some smaller pools may not be deep enough for comfortable seating, leading to a colder upper body.
For those seeking a more curated experience, the VIP jacuzzi area offers enhanced comfort, though it's worth noting that the music played there might detract from the natural ambiance for some. It's a good idea to explore different pools to find your personal favorite spot for soaking and relaxation.
Accommodation Options: From Cozy Cabins to Modern Rooms
Reviews on the condition of the accommodations are mixed. While the newer building is more modern, some guests have reported issues such as noise, construction, and even a lack of hot water. The older cabins, while charming, have been described as drafty, cold, and in some cases, showing signs of humidity, mildew, and mold.
Basic amenities like coffee service, potable tap water, mini-bars, and hair dryers may not be standard in all rooms, particularly the older ones. It's advisable to clarify what is included with your specific room type when booking to manage expectations.
Dining and Culinary Experience
Ordering food and drinks is convenient, with waiters able to serve guests throughout the property, including by the pools. However, the use of QR codes for menus and the provision of condiments in tiny, disposable packets have been noted as environmentally questionable and budget-conscious, which some feel is at odds with the establishment's overall positioning.
For those who are particular about their dining experience or are on a tighter budget, it might be wise to explore dining options outside the hotel or bring some of your own snacks.
