"Magical Evening of Imperial Splendor - Highly Recommended!
We absolutely loved our experience at the Beijing Royal Cuisine Museum / Imperial Feast (Yu Xiandu) - it felt like stepping into a time machine back to the grandeur of the Qing court.
Highlights:
• The performance and theatrical segments were exceptional. There were many different moments of dance, storytelling, and drama, with a large cast of performers. Their costumes were beautifully varied and richly detailed - every change brought a fresh visual delight.
• With first-row tickets, the experience was even more immersive. The performers served guests directly and individually, and the view was unbeatable. It felt very personal.
• Service was impeccable throughout. The staff were attentive, graceful, and seemingly as much part of the performance as behind-the-scenes facilitators.
• For just 100 yuan, guests can borrow a costume to dress up. This added charming immersion and many memorable photo opportunities.
• The food (court banquet) was intriguing. Some dishes were outside what we’re used to in Europe, but that’s part of the charm - a cultural culinary adventure. A few items didn’t hit our usual comfort zone, but overall the quality, presentation, and thought behind the dishes were noticeable.
Tips for future visitors:
Definitely consider the first-row seats - yes, they cost more, but the service and viewing experience make them well worth it.
Come with an open mind about the cuisine. Part of the fun is exploring new flavors and cultural food traditions.
The show and dinner happen together, so you might find yourself multitasking between eating, watching, and snapping photos — a fun little challenge!"

"In overall, do not use google maps to search for directions within China. Timing is not accurate. You can use google to see reviews, but DO NOT use google maps to search location and see timing to reach destination. NOT ACCURATE AT ALL. Remember to use China own maps apps.
I searched via google maps and thought it takes about 30mins to reach, but end up reach about 1 hour later from my hotel to this yuxiandu place. Missed out on the starting performance, but luckily in time for 1st dish served.
great experience with very nice food too. pity the food and performance are happening together so its not easy to eat and watch (have to look left and right for the performers coming in) at the same time. when i have not finished the food item, they are serving the next foos item already. cannot slowly enjoy. but overall, their food is not bad. you can also pay extra to dress up like ancient times' emperor or empress or concubines. there are costumes for kids too."
