What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Xianheng Tavern is praised for its excellent location near historical sites and shopping, along with a generous breakfast buffet. While rooms are noted as older, they are clean and spacious. Some guests found the dinner buffet mediocre, but the nightly dining credit offers good value. Minor issues include confusing train station directions and rough elevator doors.
"Nice hotel in a touristy part of town, loft lobby spaces, with a beautiful bar. Nice pitstop for a drink. If you're headed to the restaurants, go to the one further away from the main entrance. This one serves pretty good food all round, comepared to the one nearer the entrance, which caters mainly to tour groups (set menus etc).
The rooms are generously sized with all amenities provided for. It's proximity to places of interest like Luxun's residence (鲁迅故里) makes this a great hotel to stay in!"

"Apparently there are two Xianheng hotels. This is the older one, but I was actually pleasantly surprised by my two-night stay here
Pros:
-Price - we paid about $80/night, which included tax/fees, and the breakfast buffet
-Location - there's a mall across the street and plenty of shops nearby
-Breakfast buffet - they have a pretty good selection: fried noodles, fried rice, congee, omelettes, dim sum, steamed buns, veggies, fruits, pastries, and my favorite - the soup noodle station
-You receive a certain amount of credit (RMB) each night. I can't remember how much, but you can use it towards dinner at their restaurant, which is also a buffet. This was pretty meh but since we had the credit, we didn't want it to go to waste. It wouldn't be worth it if you have to pay full price.
-2 free bottles of water per day
-They have turn down service. So it was nice to have the bed remade, and some chocolate - but also a little creepy since we didn't know about it or expect it
Cons:
-Old rooms but clean enough
-Google Maps will tell you the closest train station is Shaoxing East, but it’s actually Shaoxing North. Shaoxing East is a 45 minute taxi, but North is 15 minutes.
-As mentioned in the pros, they give you restaurant credit, but this wasn't mentioned to my boyfriend and I when we checked in (most likely because we didn't speak mandarin). We found out from his parents about the credit, so make sure you ask the front desk about this.
-Elevator doors are rough. They will close on you and close on your hard."
