Reviews Summary
The 1912 District is lauded for its unique Republic of China architecture and vibrant atmosphere, offering a great mix of bars, restaurants, and entertainment. Visitors appreciate the diverse culinary options and the lively nightlife, especially spots like Woo Cloud and the World Craft Beer Museum. However, some patrons caution about potentially high prices at certain establishments.
"I'd highly recommend the 1912 district and in particular the Woo Cloud beer and vinyl record bar, especially for any cool expats looking for a clean and safe place to party or experience the local culture. The Woo Cloud, with its great ambiance, live vinyl jams, and great craft beer including the best IPA and assortment of local craft beer, is amazing. Big shout out to Cici and her husband who operate this great bar. They also sell vinyl LPs, and we were able to pick up a very rare Japense City Pop LP we have been searching for for over a year. Definitely great vibes, music, and beer, along with warm and friendly staff. A must try for visitors, expats, and local hip cats."

"There are a few decent bars. I always like Commune, but every Commune in every city shows the same videos, but I will still go again. I also liked Woo Cloud. Beers in these two places are 20 or 30 RMB per bottle. I walked into ReCircle. It was quite busy but maybe they saw me coming. They wanted 100RMB for a bottle of beer. I foolishly agreed and asked for a cold bottle. They can manage to find a cold bottle of beer for 20 or 30 RMB at other places, but for 100 RMB they could only find a warm bottle and a glass of ice. They could not even find a bucket of ice to chill the bottle. I would not grumble if I was paying 10 RMB. I asked for a refund, but this was refused because the bargirl had opened the bottle. They said that I could have a free drink and the bargirl made a whisky coke and put it in front of me. I passed it to someone else. I drink beer. I don't know if the whisky coke was drunk or not. I drank my 100 RMB bottle of warm beer and left. As far as bar streets are concerned, the 1912 Nanjing bar street is quiet."

The Architectural Heritage of the 1912 District
Officially opened on December 24, 2004, the district spans over 40,000 square meters and was named in honor of Sun Yat-sen, who took office as the Provisional President of the Republic of China in Nanjing on January 1, 1912. This historical connection imbues the district with a special significance, making it more than just a shopping and dining destination. It's a living museum that allows visitors to experience the ambiance of a bygone era while enjoying modern amenities.
Many of these historic buildings have been ingeniously converted into fashionable retail spaces, restaurants, and bars. This adaptive reuse has not only saved these architectural treasures from decay but has also created a unique and attractive environment that draws both locals and tourists.
