While the murals are historically significant, the photography restrictions and limited viewing conditions are noted drawbacks. The well-maintained gardens and local culinary experiences are highlights.
"It's located in a very nice ancient town in LiJiang. Serene and not overcrowded. The main painting is kept in one of the hall where photographers taking is not allowed. However, there's schedules of guides explaining the painting which is interesting."

"Not as crowded compared to lijiang.
Beautiful scenery"

"To me this is the most beautiful ancient town in Lijiang. It is more down to earth, more genuine and authentic. You see many locals going about their daily business and selling local wares, fruits, vegetables and sundries. It is a quiet and peaceful place without the huge thrum of tourists unlike the other more popular, "modern" ancient town closer to the city. Lots of opportunities to try yak meat and yak products like milk and yogurt. All very delicious. Many little cafes and coffee shops have also mushroomed up here, run by the younger generation."
