What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors appreciate the Jinan Confucius Temple for its cultural significance and its convenient location near Daming Lake and Furong Street. Many note the beauty of the reconstructed architecture and the sense of historical preservation. However, some point out that much of the temple is a modern reconstruction rather than an original historical site.
"It is adjacent to Daming Lake in the north and close to Furong Street and other old city streets. Jinan Fuxue Confucian Temple was founded in the Xining period of the Song Dynasty (1068-1077 AD). It collapsed at the end of the Yuan Dynasty and was rebuilt in the second year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1369 AD). In the Qing Dynasty, the Confucian Temple was renovated many times, but the scale and architectural layout of the Confucian Temple in the Ming Dynasty were basically maintained. The building was destroyed after 1949. It was not until 2005 that the building began to be restored and its function of "consecration to Confucius" was gradually restored."
